Oh, Deer! A visitor at Beloit Hospital took this photo the other day and shared it with us. A herd of puzzled-looking deer stopped in front of the hospital campus to pose for this photo. Looking at these beautiful animals on a cold winter day makes this weather a little more bearable. Thanks for sharing!

We are very proud of one of our employees, Jenni Krueger, a medical assistant in Pediatrics. She and her family delivered 3 million pop tops to the Ronald McDonald House in Madison yesterday! They collected these (with the help of alot of friends!) to thank the House for all they do for families with ill children. Jenni and her family were able to stay there when their now one-year old daughter, Cora, required hospitalization after birth. The pop tops and additional checks totaled a gift over $4,500. Congratulations, Jenni. Beloit Health System is pleased to help you reach your goal! Beloit Health System added 4 photos.

Thank you to the 2nd Graders at Stone Creek School in Roscoe for their creative gift to our pediatric patients and new babies. The students collected bandaids and stickers of every color and size. Jaime Binning, 2nd grade teacher, delivered them today. They are beautiful! Thank you for thinking of our patients- it will definitely put smiles on their faces. Here with nurses Robin Drake and Colleen Thomson.

Will you be doing your holiday lights this weekend? Well, if you find your light strings are broken or unusable, don't throw them away! We have an employee who recycles them to earn money for a scholarship in memory of her daughter. What a great way to support a worthy cause by something you would just throw away. Here is more information about where you can deposit them. Thank you! More Into---- If your holiday lights are “lights out” this year, then please remember to recycle your broken or unwanted strings of lights, rather than throw them away. The Anna Schenker Memorial Scholarship fund will recycle your unusable strings of lights, broken extension cords, and copper items. All sales from the recycled lights are donated to a student to help with college costs. The fifth annual Anna Schenker Scholarship was awarded in September to a freshman student at UW- Rock County. Anna died in a car accident almost nine years ago while she was a student at UW-Rock County. The following businesses will accept your strings of lights, power cords, or old copper items: BMO Harris Bank locations (formerly M & I Bank) in Janesville and Beloit; Michael’s Cycles- Janesville; Beloit Health System (including Beloit Memorial Hospital, Beloit Clinic, Janesville Occupational Health Center; and NorthPointe Health and Wellness Campus); N. Illinois Hospice- Rockford; UW-Rock County main office; Mocha Moment in Janesville; Simple Scissors in Janesville; Burtness Chevrolet in Orfordville; and Piggly Wiggly in Brodhead. Items will be collected through January. For a list of all the locations please call the Dave and Carole Schenker Family at 608-756-3568, 608-295-9892 or e-mail them at annaschenkerscholarship@gmail.com. They will also pick up large amounts of strings if you call them. To increase scholarship proceeds, the family is also selling an Anna Schenker Memorial cookbook with favorite family and friend recipes at a cost of $10.

Thank you to our excellent internal team who worked with city and county services today to restore our power and keep our patients safe! Once again the emergency drills we practice throughout the year made us very aware of the steps we needed to perform to smoothly and efficiently care for our patients and famlies during this termporary power outage. Great job team!
